Switzerland: See EDAG's 3D printed Light Cocoon Concept with FABRIC body
EDAG Engineering's Light Cocoon Concept debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, utilising 3D printing technology EDAG have built one of the most distinctive concept cars on display.
The concept of the car is to focus on lightweight construction and is said to have been inspired by leaves and bats' wings. It is for these reasons that the car only uses materials in regions where it will affect the functionality, how safe it is and areas where the rigidity matters.
Weighing around 19 grams per square metre, the vehicle structure is combined with a weatherproof textile outer skin panel, as backlight technology, using LED lights, illuminate the skeleton of the car to make it visible.
