Russia: Novak briefs Putin on record-breaking energy performance

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Energy Minister Alexander Novak in Moscow on Monday at which he was briefed on the sector's performance in 2014.

According to Novak, total investment in the sector came to 3.5 trillion roubles (€50 billion,$56 billion) and in 2014, Russia brought in a record breaking 7400 megawatts of generating capacity into operation. Russian coal and oil reserves are also higher than normal, the Energy Minister added.

Novak also outlined the preparations undertaken for the autumn- winter period, including the repairs of infrastructure and equipment.
