Ukraine: 'Financial Maidan' activists keep up the pressure against NBU

Activists of the 'Financial Maidan' returned to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in Kiev Friday, after a similar meeting of the group was violently dispersed by the National Guard on Thursday.

The protesters' demanded the implementation of several laws introduced to the Verkhovna Rada to protect the credit users' rights, amid a dramatic fall of the Ukrainian currency, the hryvnia.

The protests in front of the NBU started on Tuesday. Protesters demand the resignation of the bank's head Valeriya Hontaryeva. Armed with batons, the National Guard were deployed Thursday to disperse the protest and to have the activists' tents removed with bulldozers. Several protesters were injured and hospitalised following the incident.
