US: 'Notion that West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie' - Obama
The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ‘ugly lie,’ US President Barack Obama said during a White House Summit on ‘extremist terrorism’ in Washington, Thursday.
Taking the stage after US Secretary of State John Kerry, the US leader asserted that the West is in no way engaged in a 'clash of civilisations' with Middle Eastern countries, adding that the US does not seek to suppress Muslims.
The US leader also rejected the idea that US actions were at the root of turbulence in the region.
