
Belgium: Poroshenko arrives in Brussels for EU Council meeting
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ignored all questions from the press upon arriving at a meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Thursday. Having come from discussions in Minsk in a bid to resolve the conflict in east Ukraine, Poroshenko avoided making any comment on the details of the summit, in which Poroshenko reportedly threatened to institute marshall law before a 13-point memorandum was signed. The document commits warring parties to a ceasefire coming into effect at 00.00 Kiev time (22.00 GMT) on February 15.Poroshenko's attendance at the council came at the request of President Donald Tusk, who invited the Ukrainian president to informally debrief on the status of the conflict in Ukraine.
