Greece: Syriza's Tsipras puts 'national dignity' at top of agenda in first major parliament speech
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced his party’s anti-austerity government programme to the new Greek parliament in Athens on Sunday, in his first major speech as leader of the country.
Emphasising he wanted to reclaim Greece's 'national dignity,' the newly elected Prime Minister said the new government would not implement the promises made by the previous government to the troika of creditors – the European Central Bank (ECB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union.
Tsipras added that there would be no increase Greece's retirement age and pensions would not be cut.
