Germany: Daimler workers strike for higher pay in Stuttgart
Hundreds of engineering industry workers from a Daimler factory in Stuttgart held a protest near the plant Friday, to call for a 5.5 wage increase and improved pension plans. The workers belong to the IG Metall union, which represents 3.7 million workers across Germany. The strike in Stuttgart is just one of a series of nationwide strikes by workers belonging to IGM.
General Manager of IG Metall in Stuggart Uwe Meinhardt said that if the bosses did not meet the workers' demands in the next round of negotiations, the workers would continue striking.
