Ukraine: Poroshenko HUGS John Kerry goodbye after Kiev meeting
US Secretary of State John Kerry met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev Thursday to discuss the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The meeting comes as Washington prepares to unveil a $16 million (€14 million) US "humanitarian aid" package for Ukraine.
Kerry will also meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and a number of MPs, before he travels to Germany, Friday for the 51st Munich Security Conference. The Secretary of State is expected to discuss the possibility of providing military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but France and Germany have already voiced concern over the idea.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande also arrived in Kiev Thursday to join Kerry at the talks.
