Members of the public were given access for the first time to a 'container village' for refugees in the Koepenick district, Monday. Several dozen people came to visit the improvised settlement, which will soon host 380 people.
Social workers showed visitors the bedrooms, showers and kitchen, as well as the nursery for the youngest refugees.
The city of Berlin decided to install six temporary refugee camps at the end of 2014, among them the 'container village' in Koepenick. Most of the inhabitants are from Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.
