Germany: Ex-PEGIDA member Kathrin Oertel announces new political movement
Kathrin Oertel, former spokesperson for PEGIDA (Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West), officially confirmed in Dresden Monday that she was resigning from the organisation and founding a new political movement. She also announced the official resignation of a number of PEGIDA's organisation team.
Oertel explained that the developments happened following discrepancies inside the grouping regarding the Leipzig-based spin-off 'LEGIDA' as well as the future role of Lutz Bachmann, who resigned from PEGIDA on January 21.
Oertel and the others who resigned from the organisation team have said they will found a new movement dubbed 'Direct Democracy for Europe.'
