UN: Mariupol incident: 'Are DNR residents second-rate citizens?' - Vitaly Churkin
Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vitali Churkin spoke at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York on Monday.
He stated that it "is clear why" the council is focused on the recent shelling of residential areas in Mariupol and at a bus stop in Volnovakha, citing the fact that they are "both under Kiev’s control" as the reason.
He compared similar incidents in Donetsk and pointed out that they were not met with the same response from Kiev officials, the United Nations Secretary General or the UN Security Council itself; leading him to question the perceived value of the lives of citizens who reside in cities under the control of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
