Indonesia: UK vets SAVE this baby orangutan from the brink of death
A baby orangutan was saved from the brink of death after suffering from starvation and neglect in Borneo, Indonesia. Budi, the pint-sized ape, was kept in a chicken cage and fed only condensed milk for the first year of his life - putting him at death's door.
After the owner of Budi realised the extremity of his condition, Animal Rescue (IAR) were informed. They took the little primate on a 10 hour journey to their animal rescue centre, where intensive treatment is still underway. Having gathered strength to sit up alone, the vets are quite positive in their prognosis. However, the length of time Budi suffered from malnutrition may impact severely with permanent muscle and bone damage. The next few months will be crucial, IAR's treatment team have said.
