Ukraine: Zakharchenko oversees return of deceased Kiev troops
The remains of eight Ukrainian soldiers, killed fighting self-proclaimed Dontesk People's Republic (DNR/DPR) forces at Donetsk airport, were returned to a Kiev-controlled area on Thursday.
Taking place during a lull in the fighting, DNR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko personally oversaw the handover of the soldiers' private belongings to their former commanding officer. He also returned a Ukrainian flag seized by anti-Kiev forces at Donetsk airport earlier in the week. The DNR head had previously called on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to come and get the banner himself.
The deceased soldiers were all killed during the battle for Donetsk airport which Ukrainian forces conceded to the DNR militia after heavy fighting on Wednesday.
