Bolivian President Evo Morales was inaugurated as President by indigenous peoples of Bolivia at the ancient ruins of Tiwanaku, Wednesday.

Some 71 kilometers southwest of La Paz, Morales went through a ceremony of ‘purification of the soul and body’ by four Amautas, the formal educators in Inca culture. Morales wore robes made of vicuna, traditional cloth taken from South American camelids, as he took to the foot of the Bennett Monolith Temple inside the Tiwanaku ruins. The statesmam told his audience "We are in a time of a massive rebirth, a birth of hope, of unity, of harmony, of happiness and of our philosophy of life."

Morales won a third term in office after presidential elections were held in October 2014, where he beat his opponent in a landslide victory. He is the first Bolivian president to come from a native indigenous background.
