
Russia: Gun crazy! Russian security services swoop on gun-runners in HUGE operation
Agents from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) apprehended a criminal network of gun-runners in the town of Velikie Luki in the Pskov Region during operations that took place in mid-January, an official statement released by Moscow Tuesday.
FSB investigators arrested ten people in total during the raids, including the leader of the organisation, uncovering an extensive haul of illegal weaponry. The weapons gathered were of both domestic and foreign production and included machine guns, assault rifles, pistols, revolvers, sub-machine guns and rifles.
Investigators also uncovered a broad range of explosives including one IED, 12 grenades, 21kg (46lbs) of explosives and 64 detonators. Four workshops used to upgrade weapons and manufacture explosives were also raided in the operations.
