
Brazil: Transit fare hike demo leads to CLASHES
Nine people were reportedly detained as at least 5,000 protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against rising transport costs in the Tatuape district of Sao Paulo on Tuesday.
The protesters left Silvio Romero Square and marched through neighbourhood streets to reach Radial East Avenue, where they continued in the direction of the centre. After the protest a scuffle broke out at Bethlehem subway station, when some protesters tried to jump the turnstile and were stopped by police.
Protesters from the group "Free Pass" are set to rally again on Friday, this time in the centre of Sao Paulo.
