Belgium: 'Not sure if Astana summit on E. Ukraine will take place' - FM Steinmeier
It is not certain whether the proposed Astana summit on a peaceful resolution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine will take place, German Foreign Affairs Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Monday.
He said that if Russia and Ukraine expect more efforts from Europe to help secure peace, Europe will first need signals that there is a "readiness to move, readiness to contribute to the implementation of [the] Minsk [agreements]."
Leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine, the so-called Normandy Quartet, have met several times since June last year in order to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
