Belgium: See the battle scars of 'anti-terror' op building
Police continued to monitor the area surrounding Rue de la Colline after two suspects were killed and another injured in an 'anti-terror' operation in Verviers, Friday morning. The building which the police raided displayed signs of burning on the exterior as officers blocked roads leading to the location.
The suspects reportedly opened fire with automatic weapons as police raided the area near the town's train station. Police officers returned fire, killing two suspects in the process. Residents also said they heard several explosions. Signs of fire were also visible. The third suspect has been detained and weapons, including four Kalashnikovs as well as bomb-making paraphernalia, have been recovered.
According to reports the suspects were preparing for a 'major attack' after they allegedly returned from Syria. The country has now raised its security level to three, the second highest level possible.
