Ukraine: 'Leave Donetsk airport or die' Kiev troops get ultimatum from DNR
The sound of heavy shelling continued to ring out across Donetsk Tuesday alongside the sight of large plumes of black smoke rising from the city's International Airport. The gunfire follows unconfirmed reports that pro-Kiev forces based at Donetsk airport have been told they have until 1700 (1500 GMT) to leave the facility or face destruction. The ultimatum was reportedly issued by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DNR/DPR).
DNR forces have also reportedly taken the first floor of the airport's new terminal building as fighting continues on the ground.
The airport has seen some of the heaviest fighting during the conflict in east Ukraine, with forces loyal to Kiev and DNR militia battling it out for control of the facility.
