      Germany: Leipzig PEGIDA demo says "Yankee go home, take Merkel with you!"

      Around 5,000 LEGIDA (Leipzig Against the Islamisation of the West) demonstrators descended on Leipzig on Monday. Protesters could be heard chanting "We are the people" and be seen with placards and banners bearing slogans such as "Yankee go home, take Merkel with you!"

      Thousands of police were in attendance and held back over 25,000 counter-demonstrators in an attempt to prevent scuffles between the two groups of supporters. However, a few scuffles are reported to have taken place.
