
France: Suspected Charlie Hebdo attackers killed in siege
The chief suspects in the Charlie Hebdo killings were killed during a police operation in Dammartin-en-Goele, Friday. Brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi were killed when when they reportedly fired at security forces after being cornered. At least one hostage was released safely.
The two brothers are believed to have been responsible for storming the headquarters of the satirical magazine, gunning down 12 people and injuring several others in Paris on Wednesday 7. They reportedly fled in a car and then holed themselves up, holding a person hostage in an industrial estate in Dammartin-en-Goele.
Bernard Corneille, the Othis mayor, released a statement to the press after the operation in which he said everyone in the area is relieved.
