
Russia: Sochi attracts record numbers of tourists over New Year holidays
Russia's Black Sea resort Sochi attracted record breaking numbers of tourists over the New Year holidays, according to comments made by the city's Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov to the press on Sunday.
According to the mayor, Sochi has welcomed about 160,000 tourists each day over the holiday period. Many choose Sochi for Rosa Khutor, where fans of skiing and snowboarding can find great slopes at cheap prices.
After hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics, Sochi has an international reputation coupled with the latest infrastructure to help cope with increased numbers of tourists.
