UN: 'Israel threatening to ignite religious war' - Palestinian ambassador
Palestinian ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour denounced the Security Council’s inaction over Palestinians' continued sufferance under Israeli occupation in New York on Tuesday.
The UN Security Council rejected a Palestinian resolution calling for an end to Israeli occupation of its territories and the establishment of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders. The resolution was one vote short of the minimum nine votes required. The USA and Australia voted ‘no’, while the UK, Lithuania, Nigeria, South Korea and Rwanda abstained.
Palestinians have warned that subject to failure, they would be prepared to file suits against Israel at the ICC.
