Russia: Resource-rich Magadan region's SEZ status extended by Putin
During a meeting between the Magadan region's governor Vladimir Pecheny and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow Monday, the president informed Pecheny that Magadan's status as an SEZ (Special Economic Zone) was extended until 2025, to allow for boosting development infrastructure, energy and transport. The SEZ status also allows for productivity in local financial markets to be ramped up alongside greater regulation of financial agreements.
Russia's resource rich far-eastern Magadan Region extracted 24 tonnes of gold in 2014, as well as 900 tonnes of silver.
