USA: CCTV footage shows Antonio Martin ‘pulling gun’ seconds before police shoot
St Louis Police Department released CCTV footage on Wednesday allegedly showing teenager Antonio Martin pointing a gun at a policeman shortly before the officer fatally shot him at a petrol station in the St Louis suburb Berkeley, Missouri.
The footage shows a police car stopping Martin in front of the petrol station. The officer speaks to the victim before he moves to the front of the car. He can then be seen to extend his arm.
Police claim that Martin was holding a gun, prompting the unnamed 36-year-old officer to shoot Martin several times. Eyewitnesses have stated that Martin was unarmed during the altercation.
Police later clashed with protesters at the scene of the shooting, arresting four of the demonstrators. Martin was killed by police just five miles (8km) from Ferguson, where protests continue following the police killing of African American teenager Michael Brown.
