
Germany: Berlin footy fans trade balls for Christmas carols
Thousands of Berliners flooded into the An der Alten Forsterei football stadium in Berlin, Tuesday to take part in FC Union Berlin’s annual Christmas carol singing event.
Over 27,500 fans reportedly arrived at the stadium before 19.00 (CET) when the flood lights were turned off, and the arena was lit up by a sea of candles. Led by a children’s’ choir, the crowd joined in for yule-tide sing-along, crooning crimbo tunes such as ‘Silent Night’, ‘Oh Christmas Tree’, and ‘Brahms' Lullaby’.
The year’s event was FC Union Berlin‘s 12th Christmas carol gathering.
