
Kazakhstan: President Nazarbayev touts SCO states' self-sufficiency
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted the self-sufficiency of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states during a meeting of high-level SCO representatives in Astana, Monday. He added that guaranteeing energy sources was a vital aspect of internal security to the SCO states.
Nazarbayev stated that SCO members had the ability to provide food, power and energy supplies to their populations. The Kazakh president was speaking in the context of countries having to deal with what he called the "three evils of the modern life: separatism, extremism, and terrorism."
Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang were among those in attendance at the the 13th meeting of the Heads of Government Council of SCO member states.
