Russia: Metropolitan and proud! Moscow opens 196th metro station

Moscow's metro system opened its 196th station on Monday in the south west of the city. Work commenced on the station, which is named Troparevo, in 2012 and it is expected to have a capacity of 200,000 commuters per day.

Troparevo forms part of the Sokolniki (or Red line) and is just one of three stations planned. The other two stations, Rumyantsevo and Salaryevo, are expected to open in the first few months of 2015.

A total of 14 new metro stations in were opened in Moscow between 2011 and 2014.
