
China: Beijing’s ultra-luxury hotel ISLAND is open for business
Beijing's luxury hotel complex Sunrise Kempinski Hotel Beijing & Yanqi Island opened its doors to the public on Monday, inviting 45 lucky individuals to become the high-end establishment's first guests.
Located on Yanqi Island, the complex is managed by the Kempinski group, and boasts 14 hotels spread across an area spanning 14 square kilometres (5.4 square miles). The scenic island in the heart of Beijing's Huairou district contains the 8277-square-metre (89093-square-foot) Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Centre, some 12 boutique hotels featuring 178 rooms, 1,001 square metres (10775 square feet) of meeting space at Yanqi Hotel, and a marina, all surrounded by Yanqi Lake.
Famed for its contemporary style and stunning views, the island and its hotels gained notoriety after being used for the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) convention.
