Germany: Boxer Shannon Briggs calls out Klitschko in Hamburg
Heavyweight boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko was in Hamburg, Wednesday to defend his championship titles against Kubrat Pulev this coming Saturday. Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs crashed the party to challenge Klitschko to a boxing match, in the latest in a line of provocations involving the pair.
Screaming "the champ is here" on the streets of Hamburg, Briggs posed for the cameras stating that "the world needs a new champion. We sick of him" and "Ich liebe dich Hamburg" (I love you Hamburg). In August of this year Briggs ended up being kicked out of a restaurant and had water poured over his head by Klitschko after walking in on the boxer while he was eating. He also stole food from the Ukrainian boxer's plate. Only months later video emerged of Briggs stalking Klitschko at sea and knocking him into the water with waves from his boat while he was surfing.
After losing on points after 12 rounds to Vladimir's elder brother Vitali in 2010, Briggs wants to try his luck with Vladimir in a match expected to take place around early 2015 - if Klitschko accepts the challenge.
