Water cannon was deployed as clashes broke out between police and thousands of Polish nationalists after they stormed the streets of Warsaw on Tuesday in commemoration of Poland's national Independence Day. Over 160 people have reportedly been arrested.

The march, called by groups such as National Radical Camp (Oboz Narodowo-Radykalny) and All-Polish Youth (Mlodziez Wszechpolska), usually attracts tens of thousands of participants and is known for triggering clashes between nationalists, anti-fascist protesters and police.

The march has been running since 2008.
