
Kazakhstan: Touchdown! Expedition 41 crew hits earth after 165 days in space
Three Expedition 41 crew members touched down northeast of Arkalyk in Kazakhstan, Sunday, ending a 165-day stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Arriving aboard the Soyuz TMA-13M ferry craft, Russian cosmonaut Maxim Suraev, commander of the Soyuz, alongside German volcanologist Alexander Gerst, and NASA's Reid Wiseman hit Earth at 11:00 EST. Russian recovery crews and officials from NASA and ESA helped the cosmonauts from the ship. After medical checks, satellite phone calls to friends and family, the men were flown by helicopter to Kustanai.
Suraev will later take a Russian jet to the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City close to Moscow. Wiseman and Gerst will be taken to Prestwick, Scotland, by a NASA jet where Gerst will the fly to mainland Europe and Wiseman to Houston, USA.
