Germany: Watch as 8,000 balloons are released into Berlin’s sky
A total of 8,000 white balloons illuminating the original path of the Berlin Wall were set free into Berlin’s night sky Sunday evening, to mark 25 years to the day since the wall began to be demolished.
The light installation, developed by Christopher and Marc Bauder, was set up along a 15-kilometre (9.3-mile) stretch of the wall Friday, snaking through areas including Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Federal Chancellery, East Side Gallery, Mauerpark, Tiergarten, Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall Memorial.
