Russia: Crimea celebrates FIRST EVER Russian National Unity Day
Crimean citizens celebrating their first ever Russian National Unity Day marched through the central streets of Sevastopol with Russian flags, chanting slogans including "we are invincible when united," Tuesday.
Crimean sailors were among those who took part in the celebrations, singing the country's national anthem after a flag-dressing ceremony onboard a number of military ships. Chants in praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin could also be heard from the crowd, while wreaths were placed at the Memorial to the Heroic Defence of Sevastopol.
Russian National Unity Day was first celebrated in 2005 to commemorate Russia's defeat of Polish invaders in Moscow 1612.
