
Belgium: Strike a pose! Juncker's new EU Commission take office
The newly appointed European Commission officially took office on Saturday, with its new president Jean-Claude Juncker and his team of seven vice presidents and 20 commissioners posing for a photo in Brussels to mark the occasion.
Juncker, the former Luxembourg prime minister, has replaced his predecessor Jose Manuel Barroso, whilst former Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans has taken over as the first vice president for the European Commission and Federica Mogherini has replaced Catherine Ashton as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
