USA: Orbital VP expresses 'disappointment' after Antares rocket disaster
Frank Culbertson, Orbital Sciences Corp Executive Vice President, said he was "disappointed" that the company had not been able to "fulfil it obligation" to the international space programme and deliver cargo to the ISS. He made the comments at a press conference at Virginia Wallops Flight Facility following the explosion of Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket just after lift-off.
He added that "something went wrong and we will find out what that is. We will determine the root course and we will correct that and we will come back here and fly at Wallops again."
An unmanned Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket exploded shortly after takeoff Tuesday evening on Virginia's eastern shore. The rocket, contracted by NASA, was carrying thousands of pounds of equipment to restock the International Space Station.
