USA: Molten lava begins swallowing residential community
Hawaii County Civil Defense and Department of Education closed schools and issued a warning message in Pahoa Monday as 2,000-degree lava from Kilauea Volcano made its way towards a residential community.
The lava has destroyed property, flowed over a cemetery and near major roads, standing chest high in some areas of the community. Hawaii officials haven't yet ordered an evacuation, although some residents have already chosen to leave on their own.
