Germany: Steinmeier, Salam stress danger of Syrian refugee issue
The Syrian refugee crisis must be dealt with by ensuring the stability of major refugee host countries, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at the Conference on the Syrian Refugee Situation in Berlin on Tuesday.
Steinmeier added that help must not only be provided to governments but also to host communities who help deal with the influx of refugees. Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam continued that there are many challenges faced by Syria's neighbouring countries, the refugees issue being one of them.
Steinmeier is co-chair of the conference at the German Foreign Ministry alongside German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Mueller and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres.
