UK: Blind and deaf man pushed on to train tracks during violent attack
A 31-year-old blind and deaf man had to undergo surgery on his foot after being violently assaulted and pushed onto railway tracks by two men at a train station in the Essex town of Chelmsford, just northeast of London, on February 20. After coming to the victim's aid, the man's 28-year-old younger brother was also assaulted and thrown onto the tracks by the two assailants.
CCTV footage released by the British Transport Police shows the partially-sighted man being pushed onto the tracks during the violent assault before being punched in the face twice as he attempted to climb back onto the platform.
Niall Martin, 24, received a 9 month sentence for actual bodily harm against one of the victims, while Daniel Webster, 23, was sentenced to 22 months in jail after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm against both men.
