Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a military parade in Belgrade, Thursday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the city from Nazi German forces. The serbish army showed off their massive military power with marching troops, combat fighters, armoured vehicles and heavy weaponry.
Putin was later presented with the Order of the Republic of Serbia by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic. Putin went on to sign seven bilateral trade agreements as well as discuss the issue of the South Stream pipeline, intended to bring Russian gas through southern Europe.
Belgrade was liberated by the National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Red Army on October 20, 1944. The anniversary was moved forward by four days.
