
Russia: Spartak's legendary Fyodor Cherenkov laid to rest in Moscow *GRAPHIC*
The Russian football community gathered to pay their last respects to former Spartak Moscow star Fyodor Cherenkov on Tuesday.
The memorial ceremony was held at the Spartak Academy Arena in Moscow after he died of a brain tumour in hospital on Saturday at the age of 55. Cherenkov was a much loved player, who during his heyday in the 80s even earned the respect of fans of opposing teams. Apart from a brief stint in France, he spent his whole career at Spartak, twice being named Soviet Footballer of the Year.
Fyodor Cherenkov will be laid to rest at the Troekurov cemetery in Moscow.
