
Russia: Putin praises Rostov solidarity with E. Ukraine refugees
Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Rostov authorities and locals for their efforts to host refugees fleeing east Ukraine in the course of the ongoing conflict in Moscow on Monday.
Rostov Governor Vasiliy Golubev relayed that construction of suitable accommodation to host the 50,000 refugees in the region is underway, and that there are 42,000 currently living with local families. Golubev added that 9,000 children are now studying in local schools, around 1,350 are attending university, and 550 children are in kindergartens.
Golubev also reported a record harvest for 2014 to the Russian President. He said that more than 8.5 million tons of early grains and cereals had been harvested in the Rostov region which will fund the renewal of equipment.
