Hong Kong: Kwok declares that protests will "bend the path of history"
Thousands of anti-government protesters assembled near the Central Government Complex in Hong Kong's Admiralty district on Saturday night. The large crowd was addressed by Civic Party lawmaker Dennis Kwok who described the protest as "the purest form of courage you will ever see on this planet." On Friday the Federation of Students broke off from talks with authorities which aimed at resolving the situation.
Police forces said they had no intention to disperse the crowd overnight unless they attempted to breach government offices. Later on in the early hours of Sunday morning the police pulled back a number of officers from the site.
