
China: Finally! Microsoft launches Xbox One in China
Hundreds of eager video gaming fans flocked to one of the major electronic stores in Beijing to attend the release of Microsoft's Xbox One, Sunday, the first gaming console to be released in China in decades following a 14-year old governmental ban on foreign gaming systems.
The Xbox was officially released at midnight, with hundreds of people queuing for hours leading up the to the event.
Gaming consoles have been banned in China since 2000, when the Chinese Ministry of Culture decided to forbid any "company or individual to produce and sell electronic game equipment and accessories to China".
This resulted in an explosion of the online gaming, with the market size hitting the $100 million (around €79 million) the very same year.
