Ukraine: Power restored to Lugansk city hospital
Communal service workers were spotted in Lugansk restoring electricity lines in the war-torn city Saturday.
The works were conducted in a district named '50 Years of the Defence of Lugansk' (50-letiye Oborony Luganska), where the damaged power lines had affected the medical district, in particular the City Hospital. The majority of Lugansk’s districts are currently without electricity, since most of the wires were damaged in recent fighting. Ivan Danilov, an electrician, said power would shortly be restored to the medical district.
Over 3,000 people have died in fighting between pro- and anti-Kiev fighters in eastern Ukraine over the past five months. A nine-point peace plan has been agreed on by both parties, but sporadic fighting in eastern Ukraine has continued despite the deal.
