UK: Peace activists hold sit-in protest in central Glasgow
Peace activists staged a sit-in protest on Glasgow’s George Square, Sunday, with the aim of bringing a state of peace and solidarity to the same location where scuffles broke Friday between unionists and pro-independence voters following the Scottish independence referendum.
'Glasgow's Needy Humanity Not Charity' food-bank took a major part in the sit-in protest, with members of the public donating non-perishable foods for the city's poor. The bags of food soon built up into a huge pile, and people clapped whenever someone else brought more food to be donated.
The action took place after the same group of activists headed by Andrew Carnegie set up peace flags all over the Square Saturday.
