South Africa: Oscar Pistorius found GUILTY of culpable homicide
Oscar Pistorius arrived at the High Court of South Africa in Pretoria on Friday morning for the final day of his trial verdict.
Judge Thokozile Masipa found the South African Paralympian guilty of culpable homicide for the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013. Pistorius was also cleared of two unrelated firearm charges.
Pistorius was cleared of all murder charges on Thursday, with Judge Masipa stating that prosecutors had failed to prove the star had intended to kill Steenkamp. The maximum sentence for culpable homicide in South Africa is 15 years, but convicts can also receive suspended and non-custodial sentences such as community service.
