Bosnia and Herzegovina: Two ministers arrested on corruption charges

Police arrested 11 people in Sarajevo Wednesday, including three politicians, in an organised crime and tax evasion case in which a regional budget of nearly €6 million ($7.74 million) was allegedly skimmed. Among those arrested was Agriculture Minister Jerko Ivankovic-Lijanovic, his father and three brothers.

Also arrested was Minister of Trade Milorad Bahilj and five others. According to the state prosecutor's office, the 11 men are suspected of registering companies that imported, produced and processed meat, and then liquidating them without paying taxes.

Armed officers of the State Protection and Investigation Agency (SIPA) were seen bringing the 11 men inside the SIPA building in Sarajevo, Wednesday.
