Afghanistan: Abdullah Abdullah rejects 'fraudulent' pres'l elections
Afghanistan’s presidential election entered deadlock on Monday after presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah said he rejected the outcome of elections in Kabul.
The results of a UN-supervised audit of all eight-million votes cast on June 14 are expected to be released within days, but Abdullah, who has rejected the voting method, repeated that he would not accept them. Abdullah said that any fraud could not be accepted and implored Afghan people to "stay relaxed" in response to the final vote count.
Abdullah accuses election authorities of rigging the vote in favour of his opponent, the former Afghan Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, in both the first round on April 5 and the second round on June 14.
