Ukraine: Lugansk locals clear up their streets as truce treaty holds
Residents and city workers started to clear away the last of the barricades in Lugansk on Saturday, as the ceasefire brokered yesterday continued to hold.
Volunteers cleared away rubble and swept the streets of barricades which had been in place for five months. The remnants of damage from the conflict could still be seen, with buildings and roads extensively damaged.
A ceasefire agreement between Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk was signed in Minsk on Friday following trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and Donbass representatives, mediated by the OSCE.
